Picture Discussion?

List the important points to take note of when discussing about a picture. What should you talk about first? How do you elaborate? How do you bring in the lessons learnt? How do you summarise the whole discussion?

When discussing a picture, we must first talk about the most is important thing in the picture. We ellabrate by using good vocabulary and if possible to mention that if you were that person what will you do. We also summarise with a lesson learnt from the picture and what we feel. Given that 5 minutes of time, we must think of a good vocabulary to support what we are going to say. I also think that we must stay calm and focused.

during pic discussion, we should, like what brian said, start off with the main prob.
try to make your sentences personal by giving reasons to support your views.
also, we shud first direct the tcher's attention, b4 explaining/describing.
always remember to use the correct tense(present tense).
we shud also attempt to use exellent vocab and try not to use simple words.
i think that some of our spelling words can be used as well. =)

When we discuss a picture,we should first talk about the main point and not on something that is less important. We should then elaborate the incident that is happening and put in some of our personal feelings. We should also direct the teacher's attention to whichever incident that you are talking about.

Well,we should talk about the most important stuff. Also,we must use good vocabulary, not too tensed up or we may stammer. Try to get the teacher's attention if she/he is not listening, and use more good words in it.

We should first do a main overview of the picture and start with the main point. We must elaborate and give personal opinons and if possible, your experiences. Sound confident but do not rush. Give a conclusion when you are done. Take note of tenses!!! =D

We should start off with the main point and then to the smaller things. We should use good vocabulary and take note of our grammar. We should also add on personal responses and even try to add yourself into it like " if i were there, i would..." and stuff like that.

Remain eye-contact with the teacher at all times.

When discussing a picture, we should direct the teacher's attention before speaking and start off with the main problem in it. Try not to use words that we do not know how to pronounce and always remember to use present tense. We should also give more personal feelings and use a wide range of vocabulary. Most importantly, we should be more observant, speak slower but lounder and summarise the whole discussion by using from this/the picture,I feel/learnt that and not in conclusion, I feel/learnt that.

Start off with the main problem. Direct the teachers attention to what u want to say. Be specific. Justify what u have say. Do not give a 100% sure statement. Do not speak too fast. Do not use words that u do not know how to pronounce. Use present tense. End it with a conclusion like I feel that or I learnt that etc.

When we are discussing a picture, we should always remember to start from the main point. We must also give interpretations to support explanations. Try to add more personal feelings and use words like " in my opinion"," if i were there"," i feel that" etc...

We should always start with the most important event in the picture first. We must also remember to use the present tense. Try to use as much good vocabulary as possible. Remember, you must also direct the teacher's attention first. Do not use phrases like " In conclusion".
Wish all of you all the best !! :D

We should always talk about the main points first and not give motherhood statements. Then we should end it off with a conclusion.

When doin' picture discussion, keep your cool n dun fret. If u fret, you will b nervous n your mind will b blank. I have xperineced this before myself.
As Ms Soon said, we must talk about the most vital points first. For eg.
~A boy has knocked into an old man while playing 'catch' with another boy and the old man rolled down the staircase. In the same picture, shows...
~A maid emptying trash.
Better dun talk about the maid emptying trash 1st!!!!! Also, elaborate more on the impotant points and dun give a sentence of 2 only!!!! Also, use better vocabulary and have a confident facial x-pression. Use that 5 minites wisely to prepare yourself. Also, dun SMS(Think u shud noe that!!) Do not pause 4 too long too!!!

Thats all I hafta say lorr...

whenever we discuss a picture, we must start off with the most important thing in the picture first before going on. then we talk on other points in the picture. also use appropriate vocabulary and do not mumble. also, do not vary your tone until you so high and the examiner gets irritated.

Calm down when you see that the picture is not really easy to elaborate. Don't panic.

Use more volcabulary to "impress" the examiners.

Do not use too many bombastic words that you can't pronounce properly.

Do not project a bad impression on the exmainers.

End it off with a lesson learnt.

Only assume when there is evidence. Present the evidence.

Add your interpretations, what you think, if you where there...., add your personal touch ^^.

Direct the examiners attention to where you want them to. Do not let them wander around cluelessly.

Start off with the most important point!

Alwas use PRESENT tense.

Do not allow the examiners to have question marks popping up in their heads.

Most importantly, as always, stay calm, cool and relax!

Good Luck 6B!!!!

Use present tense and speak of the main event happening first.

i'm Jie Kai,
we must talk about the main event happening in the picture
summary the whole picture in the end
include good words and phrases in sentences

Yang Yu said...

Start the sentence with," This picture depicts a scene of a ____."
Give a brief description of the picture like: It is packed like sardines in the ____.; It could be a peak hour as i can see many people in/at the ____.

After that, start the picture off with the most important happenings.
Then, go around the picture either in a clock-wise or anti-clock-wise manner. Elaborate as much as possible. Also use good vocabulary to describe the people in the picture. Use sentences like: A teenager, with a striped cap on his head, is _____. Give opinions like: If i were the boy, i would definitely not play in the shopping centre but instead, as an elder brother, i would stop my younger brother/sister from playing.; He should not play in such places as he might knock into others and the consequences would be terrible.

Summarise the picture by saying: I feel that playing should be banned in the shopping centre and parents should have the responsibility to look after their children.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, direct the teacher's attention to where you are talking about.

i am sorry that i did not reply sooner.i had some activities.

From the oral practices we had, i learnt that...

.Be specific,(my own) describe the age, attire and actions

.Never use words that will give the examinerthe impression that you are 100% sure.Use words like: I think, probably, most likely, I assume etc.

.When talking about the picture, try not to go out of the picture.Leave the comments and other imformation to the conversation

.Never let the teacher wonder which person you are talking about.

.Don't give motherhood statements.Always elaborate further and describe in detail

.Don't start with events which are 'hidden' in the corners of the picture.

.Make detailed observations

.Try to make summaries using what you started with and always give justifications

.
.Make intelligent conclusions and don't rush.Always compose yourself.

.Use "sight" words like I can see,I notice, I observe that etc. Also use words like: If I were there, If I were the boy etc.

.Say Somthing different that differs from norm and try to bring in human behaviour

Start off with the main point.

We have to direct the teacher's attention.

Do not assume without any acceptable reasons.

I would normally think about the 5Ws, 1H, Before and After. I would normally say the not so important parts, then the main problem. If there are people who looked stunned at the main problem, I would just represent the main problem as "the incident".
