I feel that we can get a full marks for this section if you can really master it. For instance, we must have good expression, not in a monotone voice, pauses when nesscary and the fluency. Pause at a place you think you should stop at and the whole sentence you read aloud must sound reasonable. Also if a word that is difficult to read, we can try to pronounce it but not skip it. We must also note the type of voice used, whether it is monotone. FYI, monotone is a voice that have the same tempo kinda voice. All the best
because the tcher has been listening to pupils read that passage over and over again, we should try to make it interesting by not reading in monotone, which makes the tcher fall asleep. important! :D
when encountering speeches, we shud try to read it like it's really happening to you. during the 5 mins, try to read thru the passage first and practice softly. at least you would noe how to say the speech later. take note of words like "exclaimed" or "cried".. things liddat.

There should be variations in our tone and we should not be reading too fast, so that the examiner can listen to us properly.
For this section, all we hafta do is to keep our composure, read confidently and clearly and last of all, dun speak in a monotone.We should not speak with a tone of nervousness in our voice. Just keep tellin' yourself that you can do it. Dun fret as Ms Soon has already spent time with us revising our reading passage. In the 6B chinese class, Ms Lim also said that after reading a few words, pause for a moment. Of course, dun pause too long.

As what Brian said, we can easily score a full mark if we practise it oftenly. There is a saying "Practise, makes perfect". We must know when to make pauses, especially in a long sentence. Speak with expression and not in a monotone voice. In a speech, we must always look at the end of the sentence to see if there is an exclamation mark or a question mark. If it is a question mark, speak in an ascended tone at the end.
We should show condfidence in ourselves and maintain eye contact with the examiners.Remember,we probably only see the examiner once,so try ur best and be bold!!:)
I used this particular trick once... Remember to say 'thank you and have a nice day' to the teachers a the end of the oral examination because they will be dicussing over you marks after you go! This will help leave a good impression of you to them and they will mark you up! =)
...and please be polite, remember to push in your chair GENTLY after you leave... my experience is that psle oral isn't that tough, it something really common and you definitely don't have to think for a considerable period of time before you answer to the examiners' questions. Well and actually, to be truthful, there won't be difificult words in oral assessments because the psle oral is targeted at EVERYONE in singapore! so surely, they won't make life too difficult for you guys... =)go on...
It must be fluent, and not choppy. It must also be loud enough, and we must keep the pace too. There has to be expression, and not too monotonous. If you don't have all of this, you're not gonna get your 9 to 10 marks.
